New students should apply for funding by 13 May 2016 and the deadline for continuing students is 10 June 2016.
The Student Loans Company will process around 1.7 million applications this year with record numbers for Welsh students expected at its Llandudno Junction office. Over 32,000 students in Wales have already submitted applications.
Mark Cassidy, Director of Customer Services and Operations, said:
“New students in Wales should apply now and the deadline for continuing students is just around the corner too. It's important to apply by the relevant deadlines to make sure your funding is in place at the start of term.
“You don’t need a confirmed place to be able to apply - you can use your first choice of course and update it later if needed. New students should have their National Insurance Number and Passport to hand when they start the application.
“Students will also be asked to provide bank details - it’s important to enter the correct bank details to ensure the funding is paid into the right account.
“Students continuing their courses should gather details of any change of circumstances in the last year to provide up to date information.
“It can take six weeks to process a funding application so students should apply as early as possible.”
