Six apprentices have started the scheme coming from a mix of school, college and employment training.
The apprenticeship scheme runs for 12 months and combines classroom training and on-the-job experience while learning IT technologies.
Apprentices who successfully complete the first year can progress to an SQA Modern Apprenticeship Diploma in ICT and Telecommunication.
John Evans from the Student Loans Company said:
“We’re pleased to be offering our apprenticeship scheme, providing a great opportunity to develop technical skills to progress with a career in IT.
“The programme gives real hands on training in areas including telecoms, desktop and network support and the apprentices work with experienced staff members while working towards recognised well regarded qualifications.”
17-year-old IT apprentice Amber Caldwell from Bearsden said:
"I came straight from school to start at the Student Loans Company as an apprentice. I never fancied college or university so this is a great way of getting qualifications and work experience while earning money at the same time.
"I'm enjoying being in a real working environment and am finding it really interesting with lots to do and learn."
