Here’s five facts about the new Part Time Maintenance Loan:

1. The Maintenance Loan is available to new students starting their course on or after 1 August 2018

2. How much funding  you get depends on:

  • Where you live while studying
  • Your household Income
  • Your course intensity (we will measure this by asking you how many module credits you’ll study – check with your university or college if you’re not sure.  You must have a course intensity of over 25% of the equivalent full time course to be eligible)

3. The quickest and easiest way to apply for your Maintenance Loan is online at www.gov.uk/studentfinance You need  to apply for funding for each year of your course

4. You should apply for your funding as soon as possible to be sure your money is in place when your course starts – you can apply even if you don’t have a     confirmed place on a course

5. If you are studying part time by distance learning because of a disability you may also be able to get a Maintenance Loan.
