SLC gives animated advice about part-time finance

The Student Loans Company (SLC) has produced two short animated films telling part-time students about the funding that is available to them while they are studying and how to apply for it.

29 June 2015

Available to view in English and Welsh on the Student Finance Wales (SFW) YouTube channel (YouTube.com/SFWfilm), the films are aimed at both current and prospective students who are studying part time.

Derek Ross, Customer Services and Operations Director at SLC said:

“We know that students look to YouTube for a whole range of information about their studies and their finances. These films will help new and returning part-time students understand what grants are available, how to register an online account and how to apply for their tuition fee loan.”

Part-time and Open University (OU) students whose courses started on, or after September 2014 are eligible to apply for a non-repayable Course Grant based on household income and a repayable Tuition Fee Loan by completing a Tuition Fee and Course Grant form (PTL1) available at studentfinancewales.co.uk

Students whose part-time courses started prior to September 2014 can apply for non-repayable Course and Fee Grants. The amount a student is be entitled to depends on their household income, as well as the type and duration of their course when compared to an equivalent full-time course.

Additional financial support may also available for those students with children, adult dependants, a specific learning difficulty or a disability.
