Welsh students can apply now for part time student finance

Welsh students starting a part time course in the 18/19 academic year can, for the first time, apply for a Maintenance Loan to help them with their living costs.

The funding will be available to new students starting their courses on or after 1 August 2018. Part time students can also apply for a Tuition Fee Loan and extra help is available for students who have children, adult dependants or a disability.

Student Loans Company (SLC) Executive Director of Operations, Derek Ross, said: “It’s easier than ever to apply for your part time student finance as SLC’s use of digital technology means the whole application process can be completed online. There’s no reason to delay, apply now at  www.studentfinancewales.co.ukto ensure your funding is in place when you start your studies.”

 Here’s five facts about the new Part Time Maintenance Loan:


1. New students starting their course on or after 1 August 2018 will be able to apply for the Maintenance Loan as well as the Welsh Government Learning Grant to help with living costs such as food, books, rent and other expenses

2. How much funding you get depends on:

• Where you live while studying

• Your household Income

• Your course intensity (we will measure this by asking you how many module credits you’ll study – check with your university or college if you’re not sure. You must have a course intensity of over 25% of the equivalent full time course to be eligible).

3. The quickest and easiest way to apply for your Maintenance Loan is online at www.studentfinancewales.co.uk You need to apply for funding for each year of your course

4. You should apply for your funding as soon as possible to be sure your money is in place when your course starts –

Benthyciadau Cynhaliaeth Rhan-amser newydd yn cynnig cefnogaeth ychwanegol i fyfyrwyr

Yn ystod blwyddyn academaidd 18/19 am y tro cyntaf erioed, gall myfyrwyr rhan-amser Cymru ymgeisio am Fenthyciad Cynhaliaeth i’w helpu gyda’u costau byw.

Bydd y cyllid ar gael i fyfyrwyr newydd yn dechrau eu cyrsiau ar neu wedi 1 Awst 2018. Gall myfyrwyr rhan amser hefyd ymgeisio am Fenthyciad Ffioedd Dysgu ac mae help ychwanegol ar gael ar gyfer myfyrwyr sydd â phlant, oedolion dibynnol neu anabledd.

 

Meddai Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol Gweithrediadau’r Cwmni Benthyciadau Myfyrwyr (SLC), Derek Ross: “Mae’n haws nag erioed i ymgeisio am eich cyllid i fyfyrwyr rhan-amser gan fod defnydd SLC o dechnoleg ddigidol yn golygu y gellir cwblhau’r broses gyfan ar-lein. Does dim rheswm i oedi, ymgeisiwch nawr ar www.cyllidmyfyrwyrcymru.co.uk i Sicrhau bod eich cyllid yn ei le pan fyddwch yn dechrau eich astudiaethau.”

 Dyma bum ffaith am y Benthyciad Cynhaliaeth Rhan-amser newydd:

1. Bydd myfyrwyr newydd yn dechrau eu cwrs ar neu wedi 1 Awst 2018 yn gallu ymgeisio am Fenthyciad Cynhaliaeth yn ogystal â’r Grant Dysgu Llywodraeth Cymru i helpu gyda chostau byw fel bwyd, llyfrau, rhent a threuliau eraill.

2. Bydd faint o gyllid a gewch yn dibynnu ar:

• Ble byddwch yn byw tra’n astudio
• Incwm eich cartref
• Dwyster eich cwrs (byddwn yn mesur hyn trwy ofyn i chi faint o gredydau modiwl fyddwch chi'n astudio – gwiriwch gyda’ch prifysgol neu goleg os nad ydych yn siŵr. Rhaid bod gennych chi ddwyster cwrs dros 25% o'r cwrs amser llawn cyfatebol i fod yn gymwys).

3.Y ffordd hawsaf a chyflymaf i ymgeisio am eich Benthyciad Cynhaliaeth yw ar-lein ar www.cyllidmyfyrwyrcymru.co.uk Mae angen i chi ymgeisio ar gyfer pob blwyddyn o’ch cwrs

4. Dylech ymgeisio am eich cyllid cyn gynted â phosibl i fod yn siŵr fod eich arian yn ei le pan fydd eich cwrs yn cychwyn

5. Gallwch ymgeisio hyd yn oed os nad oes gennych le wedi ei gadarnhau ar gwrs
