Students: Application Deadline This Week

21 June 2016

Continuing students should apply by 24 June 2016. Around 930,000 students in England have already submitted applications, with over 1.7 million applications expected this year at the Company's Darlington office.

Derek Ross, Director of Customer Services and Operations, said:

“Continuing students should apply by the 24 June to ensure their funding is in place at the start of term at www.gov.uk/studentfinance.

“If there have been any changes in circumstances since last year’s application, these should be provided and students should also ensure they provide correct bank details to make sure their funding is paid into the right account.

"It can take six weeks to process a funding application so students should apply as early as possible.”

The Company has released a new series of films, addressing customers' most Frequently Asked Questions from the application process. The ‘Ask SFE’ films cover covering everything from applying for finance to repayment and explain complex information to students about eligibility and evidence, as well as Postgraduate loans and the extra help available.

The films will be updated at key points in the application cycle over the next few months to including details around Clearing, payment and the start of term. The 'Ask SFE about student finance' playlist is available: www.YouTube.com/SFEfilm

Those thinking about studying for a Further Education qualification can now apply for an Advanced Learner Loan, to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England. Eligible learners starting courses from 1 August 2016 can apply at www.gov.uk/advancedlearnerloan.
