Ofcom spokesperson: “We welcome publication of the draft Charter and Agreement. As regulator of the BBC, we will hold it to account and help ensure it meets the expectations of audiences.
“We look forward to discussions on finalising regulation of the BBC. In particular, the framework should be effective in ensuring the BBC is distinctive as the needs and tastes of audiences change over the lifetime of the Charter.
“Ofcom is now focused on getting ready to take on the new responsibilities from April next year.”
