Ofcom has today announced that Rock Radio (RockScot Ltd) has been awarded the advertised FM commercial radio licence in the west central Scotland area (Glasgow).
By the closing date of Thursday 26 May, Ofcom had received four applications for the licence: Caledonia Holdings Ltd (GO 96.3 Glasgow), Original 96 Glasgow Ltd (Original FM), Radio Clyde Ltd (Clyde Rocks) and RockScot Ltd (Rock Radio Glasgow).
After giving careful consideration to the applications submitted, Ofcom has awarded the licence to Rock Radio.
Rock Radio is described by the applicant as a station which will play the best of local, national and international guitar-based music from across the years, with a playlist heavily driven by supporting the live music scene in Glasgow, be that bands breaking on to the scene in pubs and clubs right through to the major artists playing Hampden and the Hydro.
Ofcom will shortly publish a statement setting out the key determining factors for the award of this licence, which will be issued for a twelve-year period.
