ORCID iDs are now in Gateway to Research

05/10/2016

We are delighted to announce that from today the RCUK Gateway to Research (GtR) will be displaying researcher ORCID iDs and a hyperlink to their ORCID profile. ORCID iDs will be displayed for any researcher who has connected their ORCID iD to their Je-S account and who has any completed or live research projects. We already have had over 8000 people connect their ORCID iD with their Je-S account. The ORCID iDs for principle investigators on projects will also be available in the CSV file that any user can download from the Gateway to Research site and through the API. It’s also now possible to search Gateway to Research using someone’s ORCID iD. This should make researcher activities easier to discover and make it easier to track researcher activities over time by ensuring their work is properly attributed to them.

If you want to connect your ORCID iD with your Je-S account it is quick and easy to do. Simply log-in to your Je-S account, which you can do at any time, and add your ORCID iD to your ‘personal information’ page now. New applicants will also see the option to ‘create or connect your ORCID iD’ when creating a new Je-S account. And don’t worry – if you don’t currently have an ORCID iD, you can also sign up for one from the Je-S system. The basic registration takes about 30 seconds, including adding your ORCID iD to your Je-S account at the same time – and it’s completely free.
