Research Councils UK has today, announced the details of the block grant funding mechanism that it is introducing to aid implementation of its policy on Open Access that was announced in July and is due to come into effect in April 2013.

Research Councils UK (RCUK) welcomes additional Government investment in research infrastructure and in particular the announcement today of a number of new university and business research partnerships, allocated by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) through the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UK RPIF).

Research Councils UK (RCUK) welcomes the final report of the Higher Education Commission’s independent inquiry into postgraduate education. RCUK supports excellent research, as judged by peer review, that has an impact on the growth, prosperity and wellbeing of the UK.

The Appointments Panels for six of the UK Research Councils are inviting applications to fill a number of vacancies on their governing Councils which are expected to arise during 2013. This includes some positions with Audit Committee responsibilities which are for part-time membership.

Research Councils UK (RCUK) has today (8 October 2012) published an online suite of case studies designed to inspire the next generation to think about pursuing a career in research. Each case study tells their own personal story of how they got involved in research, what it takes to be a researcher, and their rewarding experiences from their chosen career paths.

The UK and India’s rich and varied shared past has left a legacy of deep and common bonds – historical, social, economic and cultural.
