This film features interviews with Professor Rick Rylance, Chair of RCUK and Chief Executive of the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Professor Jackie Hunter, Chief Executive of the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), who speak about the UK’s world-leading research and innovation, and the vital role the Research Councils play in maximising the impact of the research. The film also draws on some fantastic examples of research funded by the Research Councils.

RCUK has recently launched its School-University Partnerships Initiative (SUPI), which exceeds £3.5 million in total to fund 12 projects over the next three years, each of which involves a variety of activities to develop longer-term engagement between universities and schools.
This podcast features Professor Lord Robert Winston of Imperial College London, whose project has been funded through the initiative. He talks about the important role universities must play in giving young people the opportunity to get excited about science and research. Dr Kerry Leslie, Head of Public Engagement with Research at RCUK, also talks about the aims of the initiative.
