Current Classifications and Harmonisation Unit (CHU) standard classifications

The standard classifications approved for use in National Statistics including industrial, occupational and socio-economic classifications:

• UK Standard Industrial Classification of Economic Activities 2007 (UK SIC 2007)

  The UK standard industrial classification of economic activities, abbreviated as UK SIC, is a 5-digit classification providing the framework for collecting and presenting a large range of statistical data according to economic activity.

• Standard occupational classification 2010 (SOC2010)

  The standard occupational classification (SOC) is a common classification of occupational information for the UK.

• National Statistics country classification

  This classification will form the harmonised framework to be used in the collection, processing, and outputs of statistical data on countries in both social and economic statistical collections.

• The National Statistics socio-economic classification (NS-SEC rebased on SOC2010)

  The National Statistics socio-economic classification has been constructed to measure the employment relations and conditions of occupations.
