Appointment of a Administrative Court Liaison Judge for the North and North-Eastern Circuits

The Honourable Mr Justice Stewart has been appointed as Liaison Judge with special responsibility for the Administrative Court out of London for the North and North-Eastern Circuits. This appointment will take effect on 1 January 2014.
Mr Justice Stewart will hear cases at centres on the North and North-Eastern circuits and will work closely with Presiding Judges, the judiciary and the circuit administration to carry forward the work of the court.
The Honourable Mr Justice Stewart was called to the Bar in 1975. He began to sit as a Recorder in 1995 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1996. In 2003 he was appointed as a Senior Circuit Judge and the Designated Civil Judge for Merseyside and in 2011 the Designated Civil Judge for Greater Manchester. He was promoted to the position of a Judge of the High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, in May 2013.
