Strategic Equality Objectives 2011-14
Land Registry is listed in Schedule 1 and 2 of The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011 and therefore must also:
- Prepare and publish one or more objectives we think will enable us to achieve the aims of the general equality duty, by 6 April 2012, and at least every four years thereafter.
- Ensure that those objectives are specific and measurable.
- Publish those objectives in such a manner that they are accessible to the public
We believe the purpose of setting specific, measurable equality objectives will enable Land Registry better perform the general equality duty, focusing on the outcomes to be achieved. The aim of our equality objectives will be to help focus attention on the priority equality issues within Land Registry in order to deliver improvements in policy making, service delivery and employment.
When developing our equality objectives we have reflected on the progress we have made via our diversity strategy and diversity delivery plan, along with trends we have identified via our equality data. We have also engaged with our Diversity Working Group and trade unions. We will revise and update our objectives at least every four years. We will monitor our progress in delivering against these through how well we succeed in it meeting the actions via the Diversity Committee.
We want to be ambitious and stretching and have therefore set two strategic overarching equality objectives, which will form part of our Land Registry Business Plan.
-
Internal Equality Objective
To drive a culture of inclusion and respect within Land Registry and positively seek to improve engagement with staff from protected characteristics. -
External Equality Objective
To equip our staff to identify, anticipate and satisfy our customers’ diverse needs by delivering products, services and channels at a cost we can both afford.
