Land Registry wins prestigious diversity award

Land Registry's progress on diversity has been formally recognised by a leading equality network.

Land Registry is delighted to have won the award for Large Employer of the Year at the Employers' Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei) 2012 awards.

The award was granted in recognition the outstanding progress achieved by Land Registry over the last few years in mainstreaming diversity within the organisation and increasing accountability.

In order to achieve this, we:

ensured that our Diversity Strategy stated that managers at all levels demonstrated positive leadership
put strategic equality objectives in place which are specific and measurable
established a Diversity Steering Group and Staff Focus Groups, including senior managers from each business unit
created the Diversity Working Group formed of the current members from the Disability Focus Group, LGBT network and BME Focus Group
established Diversity Champions at Board and local level, and Diversity Forums at all office locations
introduced a formal Equality Impact Assessment process, which was used to assess all central processes and policies
launched the Respect campaign in January 2012, to embed the organisations value of Respect into the business and raise awareness of its relationship with cultural change and diversity.

The judges said of Land Registry's submission, "The Land Registry approach is wide reaching with a change in the overall governance and top level commitment to diversity supported by clear objectives. This has resulted in diversity being embedded in the business."

HR Director, David Evans said, "I am delighted that this award has recognised the dedication of the people who have worked so hard towards us achieving this success. Although we still have some work to do, recognition is a significant milestone on our journey."
