European Commission's "Researchers' nights"

On the basis of the positive results of the "Researchers in Europe 2005" Initiative and in particular for what concerns the "Researchers’ nights", the European Commission intends to launch a call for proposals concerning the organisation of "Researchers’ nights" throughout Europe on 22 September 2006.

The publication of this call is currently foreseen in the course of the first half of February (possibly 11 February 2006 on the Official Journal, with deadline on 11 April 2006) depending on the formal approval by the Commission of the Work Programme’s modification, which was made necessary in order to (for example) introduce this call in the roadmap.

Should the call be confirmed, an "Information day" will be held on 2 February 2006 in Brussels (further information and registration can be found on the website linked below). This event will provide potential proposers with a clearer idea of what is expected of them within the call.

At the event:

• Commission officials will provide detailed information regarding the "Researchers' night" concept, the precise objectives pursued, the necessary requirements to be filled, and the evaluation criteria and priorities;
• Participants will be offered the opportunity of describing potential ideas regarding Researchers' nights in 2006 and as a consequence be able to start a networking with other potential organisers with a view to submit joint or combined proposals, at national or transnational level;
• Participants will have the opportunity to ask precise questions related to any aspect of the proposals to Commission officials.
