Supporting the Career Development of Researchers: Launch of the new Concordat

The new Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers sets out the expectations and responsibilities of researchers, their managers, employers and funders. It aims to increase the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK and to improve the quantity, quality and impact of research for the benefit of UK society and the economy.

An event to launch the new Concordat will be held on 25 June 2008 at Central Hall Westminster, London, starting at 5.30pm. Ian Pearson MP, Minister for Science and Innovation will address the reception.

This networking event will include brief speeches from key partners and will include representatives of the signatories and supporters and stakeholders from the UK and Europe. You will have the opportunity to hear how the UK higher education sector has worked together to develop this new Concordat and how it intends to continue working together to ensure its effective implementation.

The Minister will also announce the new National Programme dedicated to researcher development which will be a major feature of the Concordat implementation plan. You will have the opportunity to learn more about this new programme during the evening.
