Guideline hourly rates finalised for 2010
Judicial Communications Office statement
Statement 1910/2010
25/06/2010
The Master of the Rolls has accepted the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Civil Costs, to finalise the Guideline Hourly Rates for 2010 at the existing interim rates. The rates are a starting point for judges carrying out summary assessments of costs in cases, on reasonable hourly rates for solicitors and legal executives of varying levels of experience.
Interim rates had been adopted in March to take effect from 1 April 2010, and were based on the Committee’s recommendation of a 1.7% increase on 2009 rates, reflecting the evidence considered by the Committee. The effect of the Master of the Rolls’ decision is to confirm as final those interim rates.
