Land Registry Board
The Land Registry Board (LRB) was established in April 2006 and is separately constituted from the Executive Board (EXB) which is led by the Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive.
The remit of the LRB is primarily supervisory, with responsibility for the day to day management of Land Registry residing with the EXB.
The purpose of the LRB is to support, constructively challenge and provide guidance to the EXB, to supervise the development and delivery of the agreed Business Strategy and to ensure appropriate governance of the activities of Land Registry.
The LRB is led by an independent Non-Executive Chairman and is comprised of up to 9 permanent members with a broadly equal split between non-executive and executive members. There are currently four Non-Executive Directors (including one representative from the Shareholder Executive) and three Executive Directors.
Principal objectives
- To advise on and agree the long term Vision;
- To advise on and agree the medium term Business Strategy;
- To advise on and agree the Annual Budget and KPIs;
- To review financial and operational performance in the context of the Business Strategy and against the agreed Annual Budget and KPIs;
- To monitor market developments and consider the threats and opportunities faced by the business;
- To ensure compliance with all statutory requirements;
- To ensure the business employs best practice in respect of corporate governance;
- To monitor strategic risks faced by the business;
- To ensure the business has adequate systems and controls;
- To ensure that effective relationships are maintained with all major stakeholders including shareholders, customers, suppliers, employees and Government departments;
- To receive reports from the Audit Committee and Remuneration and Nominations Committee.
