Lord Mayor’s Dinner for Judges: Mansion House, London

Speech by Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales

17/07/2007

Lord Phillips talks about the relationship between Parliament and the judiciary and undertakes to produce a report on the administration of justice which he will lay before Parliament annually.

“My hope is that this will serve to strengthen understanding between Parliament and the judiciary. My role as head of the judiciary is one that I greatly enjoy, but it does come with responsibility for the administration of justice which is inevitably and quite properly of public and Parliamentary interest.”
