International unit
Our International Unit aims to provide land registration advice, expertise and technical know-how to those countries seeking to:
- establish and develop private land ownership
- secure land tenure
- develop functioning land and mortgage markets.
We are passionate about land registration and firmly believe that as a cornerstone of today's economy, it enables everyone who deals with property to do so with confidence.
We offer consultancy, training and study tour services, covering a wide range of disciplines connected with land administration – including land registration practitioners, lawyers, surveyors, information technology, human resources, finance and training specialists.
Use the section links on the right to learn more about our role and responsibilities and find out how to contact us if you require further help or advice.
Consultancy
We are pleased to make our knowledge and expertise available to client governments, particularly in developing and transition countries.
Our people are experts in their fields and cover a wide range of land administration functions, from land policy and legislation to training and staff development.
We provide people for consultancy assignments ranging from just a few days to up to six weeks at a time. We provide our consultancy services directly to client governments and indirectly as specialist sub-contractors on larger land administration projects.
Study tours
Each year we welcome hundreds of visitors to our offices here in the UK from land administration authorities and other government and non-government organisations throughout the world.
Visitors meet with us at our Head Office in London, as well as at our regional offices throughout England and Wales, to see our operation in practice.
Our study tours, secondments and educational visits provide officials from other countries with the opportunity to meet our experts in their own offices and to see our operations in practice. Programmes for visits are tailored to meet visitors' own specific objectives. Our aim is to share our experience and to show visitors those aspects of our operations that they need to know about.
Visits are arranged for groups of all sizes and take anything from just a couple of hours to up to a week, depending on need.
Training
Land Registry is an expert training organisation and is delighted to provide training services to overseas governments.
We provide trainers and expert speakers to organisers of international training courses delivered in the UK or overseas.
Our trainers cover a wide range of topics connected with land administration, including land registration policy and practice, as well as more specialised functions in a land administration context, such as governance, finance, human resources and customer service.
We also provide a full range of education and training services directly to legal professionals who need an in-depth understanding of how land registration in England and Wales works, and the processes used to update them. Find out more about our domestic customer training programme.
