Central Science Laboratory wins RCUK-sponsored Knowledge Exploitation award at Yorkshire Forward Innovator 09

09 March 2009

York-based Central Science Laboratory (CSL) has beaten off stiff competition from the Keyworth Institute and Peratech to win this year's Knowledge Exploitation award. CSL received this award, which included a £3000 cash prize, in recognition for meeting real market needs in the food security, environmental protection and climate change sectors.

Mr Adrian Belton (CSL Chief Executive), Dr Robert Bolton (CSL Commercial Director) and Ms Louise Byass (CSL IP Exploitation Manager) collected the award which was presented by Professor Colin Whitehouse, Deputy Chief Executive of the Science and Technology Facilities Council, and Dr Jonas Ridderstrale, who was guest speaker on the night.

The Knowledge Exploitation award, sponsored by RCUK, was one of six awards presented at the prestigious awards ceremony in Leeds Town Hall. The awards celebrate the passion and talent of organisations and individuals who are driving innovation in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The Knowledge Exploitation award rewards and celebrates the successful (commercial or pre-commercial) exploitation of basic research from within Yorkshire and Humber's universities and research organisations, bringing the application of knowledge to market for the benefit of the applicant, end users and the economy.
