Speech by Lord Neuberger, Master of the Rolls

02/12/2010

Lord Neuberger, Master of the Rolls addressed the Law Commission Lunchtime Seminar:

"This Commission’s establishment, as a permanent, advisory body, independent of government marked a turning point in our approach to reform. No longer would reform be essentially an ad hoc process. As a consequence of Gardiner and Martin’s influential 1963 work, Law Reform – Now, it was created as a means to undertake a co-ordinated, considered, well-structured and systematic approach to law reform. It was an approach which not only found favour here, but would be replicated throughout the common law world during the 1960s and 1970s.."
