Costs Conference

Speech by Sir Anthony May, President of the Queen's Bench Division

19/06/2009

Anticipating the final report from Lord Justice Jackson on civil litigation costs, Sir Anthony May gave a personal view on what should be done to improve access to civil justice.

“No one with any degree of familiarity with civil litigation can doubt but that the way we have come to handle costs is a serious impediment to access to justice. Civil litigation costs far too much.”
