Lord Justice Latham has been appointed as Vice-President of the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division), in succession to Lord Justice Rose, whose retirement was announced today.
His appointment will take effect on 24 April 2006.

Lord Justice (Sir David) Latham, 63, has been a Lord Justice of Appeal since 2000, and was appointed as a High Court Judge in 1992. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1964 and made a Bencher in 1989. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1985.
Lord Justice Latham was Presiding Judge for the Midland and Oxford Circuit between 1995-99, and a Member of the General Council of the Bar 1987-92. He was a Recorder 1983-92 and a member of the Judicial Studies Board 1988-91.
