Opportunity to apply for new Public Engagement grants
Ten new public engagement grants are available for UK Higher Education Institutions
(HEIs) to develop and run a public event inspired by the forthcoming 2012 Games.
The aim of the events is to communicate the role of science and medicine in sport,
so applications are welcomed from HEIs involved in teaching and/or research in science,
education and medicine in sport.
The grants are available from Knowing Sport, the Public Engagement Programme for
the International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS)
and are supported by Research Councils UK (RCUK) and Podium.
Events should be free to attend, open to the public and be accessible to a variety
of non-specialist audiences. Successful applications will be awarded a grant of
£1000 to host an event between October 2010 and January 2011. The closing date for
applications is midday on Friday 3 September 2010.
