The UK’s eight Research Councils and their strategic partnership, Research Councils UK (RCUK), have today published their updated Delivery Plans, outlining priorities up to 2008.
The Delivery Plans were originally published simultaneously in 2005 and have now been updated to take into account achievements made in the last 12 months and Councils’ changing priorities.
The Research Council Delivery Plans are an integral part of the Government’s spending review process, with the plans explaining how each Council, and RCUK, plan to spend allocations from the Science Budget and deliver strategic objectives. The current Delivery Plans outline funding allocated for 2005/06 to 2007/08.
They also represent one part of a comprehensive performance management system that enables the Office of Science and Innovation to demonstrate the contribution that each Research Council is making towards achieving government targets. This system includes a series of performance metrics, called the outputs framework, and a set of targets and milestones arising from the activities set out in the Delivery Plan, known as the scorecard.

About Research Councils UK
Research Councils UK (RCUK) is the partnership between the UK's eight Research Councils. Through RCUK, the Research Councils work together to champion the research, training and innovation they support. The Research Councils are independent non-departmental public bodies, funded by the Science Budget through the Office of Science and Innovation.
Together the Research Councils invest around £3 billion a year in research and training in universities, facilities and Research Councils Institutes.
