Research Councils UK (RCUK) welcomes the news that the RCUK SSC Ltd Payroll Team was announced winner of the Payroll World Team of the Year 2011 Award this month.
Judged by a panel of noted professionals from both the private and public sectors, the team was recognised for their extraordinary effort and positive attitude.
The transition of payroll services from the seven UK Research Councils to the Shared Services Centre saw payroll volumes increase from 5,000 to 25,000 between April 2010 and March 2011. During this increase, the error rate actually reduced from 0.7 per cent to under 0.1 per cent by the end of the financial year.
Lee Pearson, Payroll Team Manager, commented: “The pace has been relentless with many new payrolls taken on simultaneously or in quick succession. However, the team tirelessly juggled the demands of stabilising the most recent change while preparing for the next, always in good spirits and taking all feedback in their stride. I’m really proud of them.”
