Humanities in the European Research Area
Humanities in the European Research Area
HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area) aims to ensure that the Humanities plays a central, vibrant role in the European Research Area and its Joint Research Programme launched last year, is one which, thanks to the AHRC’s role, is set to bring significant benefits to UK researchers. With successful proposals requiring the building of consortia of three or more partners in the 13 participating countries, the programme will create collaborative, trans-national research opportunities that will bring new dimensions to humanities research within the UK. Three networking events organised by the AHRC in the last year – in Paris, London and Glasgow – meant that a large number of UK arts and humanities researchers were given the opportunity to build collaborative teams to apply for funding of up to one million Euros per project. Out of the 19 projects that have now been funded 18 are either led by UK academics or have UK researchers as part of the project team.
