Is Space the answer to human progress and survival?
Can it help us solve our earthbound problems?
These are just some of the questions being debated at the RCUK Space debate at this year’s BA Festival of Science.
Many consider Space the final frontier - the answer to human progress and survival. Fifty years of Space activity have changed communications, technology, our view of the Earth, and our understanding of the origins of life and the Universe. Space has impacted on our economy and it inspires many to dream.
Yet there is still much to discover and to do on our own planet. As we face numerous humanitarian crises around the world and the effects of climate change become ever more catastrophic, can Space science help us to solve these earthbound problems?
The debate is taking place at 18.00 on the 12 September, at the National Centre for Early Music, St Magrets Church, Walmgate, York, Y01 9TL.
