FameLab 2007

23 February 2007

Do you know someone who just can’t stop talking about science or technology…? Why not encourage them to enter NESTA FameLab?

Do you want to share your passion?

NESTA FameLab is an exciting national competition to find the new voices of UK science and engineering. We are looking for talented people who have the ability to share both their enthusiasm and knowledge with the public.

The 2007 winner will win £2000, a two-week internship with Channel 4 and a host of speaking engagements.

There are seven regional heats around the country:

Wow our expert judges...

Entrants have just three minutes to wow the judges with a presentation on a scientific subject of their choice. Anyone taking part can also join in a free one hour mini-masterclass, getting some top-tips and advice from an experienced media trainer.

One finalist and one reserve will be chosen from each of the regional heats to take part in a residential weekend masterclass in science communication. The winner will be decided at the live final at Cheltenham Science Festival on 9 June.

2006 winner Jonathan Wood said, "I would encourage everyone with an interest to enter - the benefits are enormous. I've gained a real confidence and drive to go out and find the opportunities to speak, perform, and have fun with the science that interests me. It is a brilliant experience, and it's not only about the opportunity of fame and fortune. FameLab forces you to think more carefully about how science works and what catches the imagination."

So if you want to share your passion with the world, come along to one of the regional heats this year.
