Future directions in research relating to food security

BBSRC is leading a consultation on behalf of the Research Councils on future research for food security.

The world faces a growing food security crisis due to a combination of factors including:

• growing population;
• climate change threatening global harvests;
• exotic and endemic animal disease;
• global economic downturn disrupting the flow of trade.

Research will be essential in meeting the challenges ahead.
