Public and Prized

Public and prized

A photo-tour around twelve buildings recognised during five years of the prime minister's better public building award

Why shouldn't a nursery school in Edinburgh feature the same flair, style and high quality as an art gallery on London 's South Bank?

The Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award celebrates great design in new public buildings. It aims to raise the standard of all new public buildings, regardless of their size and cost. To celebrate the fifth anniversary, CABE has organised a photographic tour of buildings recognised by the award. The resulting exhibition features stunning images of the buildings, taken by photographer Michele Turriani.

The Photographer

Michele Turriani's photographic work includes advertising, fashion, music, publishing and editorial, but rarely architecture. His work for this exhibition proves that public buildings can be inspirational, not institutional.
