Appointment of new judge in charge of the Commercial Court

The Lord Chief Justice has announced the appointment of Mrs Justice Gloster DBE as Judge in Charge of the Commercial Court with effect from 9 July 2010.

She succeeds Mr Justice Gross who has been promoted to the Court of Appeal with effect from 9 July 2010.

The role of Judge in Charge involves responsibility for the Commercial Court list, including assigning the judges of the court to cases.

1. The Hon. Mrs Justice (Dame Elizabeth) Gloster DBE was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1971. She was appointed a QC in 1989, a Judge of the Courts of Appeal of Jersey and Guernsey in 1993 and a Recorder in 1995. In 2004 she was appointed a High Court Judge in the Queen’s Bench Division and authorised to sit in the Commercial Court.
