Programme budgeting data at Cancer network level for 2009-10 is available in the NHS Cancer Commissioning Toolkit, which also includes information on a range of other high level indicators.
Programme Budgeting data is presented at Cancer Network level for 2006-07 to 2008-09 in the 2008-09 Cancer Networks workbook. The workbook enables Cancer Networks to compare their expenditure on the Cancer and Tumours Programme Budgeting category and its subcategories against other Cancer Networks and previous years.

Programme Budgeting data is presented at Cardiovascular disease (CVD) network level for financial years from 2003-04 to 2009-10. The workbook enables CVD networks to benchmark the aggregated expenditure of the PCTs within their geographical area on CVD with that of other CVD networks for 2007-08 to 2009-10. Crude expenditure data is also presented for 2003-04 to 2006-07.
To aid commissioners in the health investment decision making process, a number of tools linking Programme Budgeting expenditure at disease level to patient outcomes are available.
The Spend and Outcomes tool has been developed by the Association of Public Health Observatories (APHO). This interactive tool provides a snapshot of expenditure and patient outcome data for the main Programme budgeting categories enabling comparisons with commissioners nationally or with similar characteristics.
Commissioner level programme budgeting expenditure has been linked to health outcomes, Quality Outcome Framework (QOF) data and Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) data in the Programme Budgeting atlases. The interactive atlases present Programme Budgeting expenditure data alongside clinical and health outcome indicators in a user friendly graphical format combining maps, tables and charts.
NHS Comparators provides quarterly inpatient activity and expenditure data by programme budget at England, SHA, Commissioner and Practice level. Prescribing expenditure and volume data linked to Programme Budgeting category are now also available. NHS Comparators allows commissioners to track expenditure and patient outcomes over time and make timely decisions on health investment.
