Community care

With a total yearly investment of more than £10 billion, community services make up 10 per cent of the NHS budget. Local and national comparative data can be used to improve community services by informing commissioning decisions and the management of services.

There is currently no national data collection for community care, but the community information data set aims to address this by providing definitions for a national data set. In common with other secondary use data sets, this describes the data which NHS funded providers of community services will be required to submit to the centre for analysis and reporting. This is a subset of data needed for care delivery.
