Mars is committed to producing quality products for our consumers and promoting responsible consumption. We have been at forefront of GDA labelling, responsible marketing, product choice and encouraging healthy active lifestyles with our consumers and our associates. We are dedicated to enhancing the nutritional profile of our products by:Introducing new products and product formats to give our consumers greater choice;Renovating our products to reduce levels of saturated fats and decrease calories per serving;Reducing calories per portion through the reduction of portion sizes;Providing clear information about our products;Providing wide range of pack sizes and formats;Enhancing the nutritional content of our products where we can. We want people to feel good about eating chocolate as a treat. Thats why, whilst we never compromise on taste, we are also committed to making our products even better. We have invested millions of pounds and thousands of RD man hours to reformulate our existing products, resulting in the removal of artificial trans-fats and the reduction in levels of saturated fats. Mars is pleased to be part of the UK Public Health Responsibility Deal, and as part of this has signed the collective commitment of the calorie reduction pledge to support and enable our customers to eat and drink fewer calories. We have made significant progress through innovation and portion size reduction and have reduced the average number of calories per portion in our single products by over 10% from 2007 to 2011. We have reduced the portion size of our MARS, SNICKERS and GALAXY products and also created several new products at lower calorie points, enabling our consumers to enjoy the taste they love in less substantial formats. We have expanded choice, enabling our consumers to choose the product and portion sizes that are just right for them and their families, and support consumers in making these choices by providing clear information on their ingredients and nutritional values. We are currently working to deliver our global commitment of making all of our chocolate products no more than 250 calories per portion by 2013, which will see a further significant reduction in calories to our 2 best-selling chocolate bars - MARS and SNICKERS. In addition we will also be introducing smaller size bars into our Impulse range, enabling us to offer lower calorie single bars, and we will be reducing our multi-pack sizes from 5 bars per pack to 4 per pack.
