Incidents of politically-motivated violence have fallen in recent years but political rallies or disputes could trigger violent protests. Monitor local media closely and avoid all protests and demonstrations as they could turn violent. The commune (local) elections on 4 June 2017 passed smoothly and trouble-free. Around 159,000 British nationals visited Cambodia in 2016. Most visits are trouble-free but there have been reports of assaults and robberies against foreigners. See Crime

Although there’s no recent history of terrorism in Cambodia, attacks can’t be ruled out. See Terrorism
