A photograph showing the 15.5 inch f15 Cook refractor telescope in the observatory built in 1885 near Scarborough, North Yorkshire, by James Wigglesworth (1825-1889), a businessman and amateur astronomer. Wigglesworth had the 30 foot dome built in the same year that he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. The observatory was staffed by Wigglesworth's German observer, J. Gerhard Lohse. They determined the positions of 20 nebulae between 1885 and 1887.
