Sexual and Reproductive Health Activity Data Set (SRHAD) Collection

BAAS Reference: R00308
Frequency: Annual

Background to the collection

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Activity Data set (SRHAD) came into effect on 1 April 2010. It consists of anonymised patient-level data submitted on a quarterly basis. SRHAD replaces the annual, aggregate KT31 return and provides a much richer source of contraceptive and sexual health data for a range of uses from commissioning to national reporting.

The last collection for KT31 was for the period ending 31 March 2014 and is now retired. From Q1 2014 all data providers were required to submit SHRAD.

The SRHAD data collection has changed from quarterly to annual. The last quarterly return was Q4 2014/15 (1 January 2015 to 31 March 2015).

2015/16 will be the first annual collection (1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016) . Request for this data will be sent out 18 May 2016 with a deadline of 15 June 2016.

There are 2 guidances and 2 methods of data submission available depending on when your system supplier upgraded your SRHAD from V1 to V2.

V1 SRHAD submitted by Data Depot (DD)
This is for data providers who cannot provide valid V2 SRHAD for the data prior to their upgrade, i.e. 1 April 2015 to upgrade date. Please refer to the guidances PRE 1 January 2015.

(Please note that the links in the guidances may no longer work, but the relevant links can be accessed in the POST 1 January 2015 guidances)

V2 SRHAD submitted by Strategic Data Collection Service (SDCS)
This is for data providers who can provide valid V2 SRHAD for the period 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016 or from date of upgrade to 31 March 2016. Please refer to the guidances POST 1 January 2015

The SRHAD extract is submitted in CSV (comma-separated values) format to the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) via one of the two methods above, which are secure file-transfer tools. Further information will be provided to customers nearer the time.

The SRHAD data is collected on behalf of Public Health England and complements the GUMCAD2 data collection. Further details can be found on the Public Health England website.

Launch and submission dates

SRHAD data extracts will be run annually by the SRH service, 6 weeks after the end of the year (financial).
