This document outlines a strategy for the contemporary visual arts in England for the next ten years. This is a long-term strategy which builds on existing investment and the success and impact of the contemporary visual arts. It covers spaces and resources for production and presentation, including workforce and employment development, in order to meet the needs and aspirations of artists, audiences and participants. The strategy will help deliver our mission to place arts at the centre of national life and people at the heart of the arts. It will be supported by an action plan, developed with partners and the broader visual arts sector, up to 2008 and beyond.
