2011 Census: Population and household estimates - supplementary figures part 2 (1.23 Mb Excel sheet)

This release contains information to supplement and support the estimates published in the '2011 Census: Population and household estimates for England and Wales', the first release of results from the 2011 Census of Population for England and Wales.

The figures include selected figures from the 2011 Census estimates, additional derived figures, and 1991 and 2001 comparison figures taken from the final mid-year population estimates and from historical household projection figures and 2010 Household Estimates for Wales. Overall 2011 Census response rates and internet response rates are also included.

The figures and derived measures are provided in a single table with information for each local and unitary authority, and also in an interactive profile that summarises and presents information for the local authority selected, together with regional and national rankings and those of the minimum and maximum authority within the same region as the select authority.

This information has been published in response to requests for data that can be derived from or compared with the census estimates published on 16 July 2012 and consolidates figures from a number of individual requests.

2011 Census: Population and household estimates - supplementary figures part 1 (182 Kb Excel sheet)

Population change between 2001 and 2011 for local and unitary authorities in England and Wales (2.21 Mb Pdf)

 

This release contains information to supplement and support the estimates published in the '2011 Census: Population and household estimates for England and Wales', the first release of results from the 2011 Census of Population for England and Wales, published 16 July 2012.

Table 1 provides counts for the number of residents of England and Wales for the census years 1801 - 2011. The 2011 estimates included are those from the 16 July release, the 1991 and 2001 figures used in the table are the final mid-year population estimates for those years. Figures from 1981 and earlier are census results. The table also provides measures of the change in population between each census year, in both counts and percentages. Charts 1,2 and 3 illustrate the figures in Table 1.

Map 1 shows the population change between 2001 and 2011 for local and unitary authorities in England and Wales. The 2011 figures used are those in the 2011 Census population estimates. The 2001 figures used are from the final 2001 mid-year population estimates.

This information has been published in response to requests for data that can be derived from or compared with the census estimates published on 16 July 2012 and consolidates figures from a number of individual requests.
