Professor Peter Homa

Peter started work in the National Health Service in 1979 as a hospital porter after which he commenced the NHS National Management Training Scheme in London in 1981.  Peter has extensive healthcare management experience including 21 years as a chief executive of local and national organisations.

Peter has been Chief Executive of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest and most complex teaching hospitals in the country, since 2006.  He has a track record of leading innovative management practice to simultaneously improve the quality of patient care, teaching and research alongside value for money.

Peter is an Honorary Professor in Health Policy at the University of Nottingham and the University of Lincoln.  Peter’s first degree is in economics and he has Master and Doctorate degrees in Business Administration.

Peter was elected President, Institute for Health Services Management, in 1998/99; appointed a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2000 for contributions to the health service.
