Oral Hearings - 3 September 2012

The full oral hearings in the Azelle Rodney Inquiry will commence on 3 September 2012 and are expected to run for 8-10 weeks. The Chairman very much regrets the further delay caused by setting that date and would have preferred to begin taking evidence earlier in 2012. The hearings will be held at Principal Registry of the Family Division, First Avenue House, 42-49 High Holborn, London, WC1V 6NP in Court 80.

There are a number of reasons why an earlier date could not be set. These include the legal complexities surrounding the disclosure of documents and the avoidance of calling a large number of Police Officers to give evidence to the Inquiry Chairman in the period leading up to, and during, the Olympic Games.

The date of 3 September 2012 has been set in consultation with all the core participants, including Mrs Alexander.

Please note that witnesses and other visitors cannot take mobile phones or other electronic devices into the court area. Along with any bags or cases you bring to the hearing venue, these must be left with security, who will issue you with a receipt.
