Bill Crothers joined the Cabinet Office on 1 April 2012 as Executive Director, Commercial Relationships and in July 2012 became Director General, Commercial and the government’s Chief Procurement Officer.
In February 2014 Bill took up the role of Chairman of the Crown Commercial Service, in addition to his responsibilities as Government Chief Procurement Officer.
Before joining the Cabinet Office, he was Group Commercial Director for the Home Office. He was also the Crown Representative for five of the larger IT suppliers to government.

Government Chief Procurement Officer
As the head of the efficiency cluster, the Chief Procurement Officer leads procurement and procurement policy affecting the £45bn spent each year by central government.
The Chief Procurement Officer also leads the management of relationships with government’s largest suppliers, leveraging the power of the Crown as a single customer.
