The Environment Agency is the lead organisation for EQual (Ensuring Quality of waste-derived products to achieve resource efficiency) and are working in partnership with:

Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM)

CIWM is a professional member organisation serving the resource and waste management sector both in the United Kingdom and internationally.

Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA)

NIEA is an agency within the Department of the Environment and is the environment regulator for Northern Ireland. They provide compliance assistance for businesses to explain obligations and best practice.

Environmental Services Association Limited (ESA)

The ESA works to support and promote the waste and resource management industry. They work with governments, parliaments and regulators to bring about a sustainable system of waste and resource management for the UK.

Rijkswaterstaat (the Netherlands’ Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment)

Focusing on sustainability, innovation, international business and cooperation, Rijkswaterstaat is the number one contact point for businesses, knowledge institutions and government bodies.

Organics Recycling Group

Organics Recycling Group is the leading trade organisation for the biodegradable waste management industry in the UK. Set up in 1994, they have grown in size and stature and now represents a modern proactive not for profit organisation within the wider waste industry.

Energy UK

Energy UK is the new trade association for the gas and electricity sector, representing a wide range of interests and driving forward the debates on the UK's strategy for achieving a low carbon, secure and affordable energy future.


EQual is part funded by the LIFE+ phase of the European Union LIFE programme. EQual receives support from the environment policy and governance component of LIFE+, which co-finances innovative or pilot projects that help implement European environmental policy and help develop innovative policy ideas, technologies, methods and instruments.
