Evidence commissioning

Marine Management Organisation (MMO) has an Evidence Projects Register, which is a register of commissioned research and technical advice. This register lists for each project the title and aims, the timeframe and a link to the project report. All the evidence reports and associated information are published on our website once they have been completed and quality assured. This is MMO's evidence report series. In addition, summary notes are available for a quick overview of each project.

Technical advice reports commissioned to support decision making in the licensing and conservation enforcement functions can be found on the web pages for those functions, linked to the appropriate topic.

MMO also works with partner organisations on joint commissions and these can also be found on partner organisation websites. When these projects are complete and quality assured the online location of the report will be the link in the evidence register.

Scientific Framework Agreement 2012-2016

MMO developed and put into practice the Framework Agreement for Marine Scientific Advice. The agreement allows for high quality research and technical advice to be efficiently commissioned in an open and transparent manner in priority areas relevant to our marine management decision making. Eight lots covering technical advice and research on specific topics have been included.

Eighteen consultants have been selected through a rigorous process to provide these services. The framework services are also available to a number of our partners. This is an important development in procuring high quality science, evidence and technical advice to support the decision making in MMO operational functions, which needs to be based on the best available evidence. The framework is a mechanism to ensure value for money for our evidence commissions until 2016.

Any questions about the framework agreement should be emailed to evidence@marinemanagement.org.uk
