Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas which decays into other radioactive species, all of which cause human exposure to radiation. The main danger from high radon exposure is the increased risk of lung cancer. The HPA recommends that radon levels in homes should be less than 200 becquerels per cubic metre (Bq m ^-3). The Government has accepted this advice.
