HCPC and The College of Social Work: suggested agenda for joint visits

11/12/2012 - 10:03

Advice for social work education providers

Over the next three academic years (2012-15), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) will be visiting all transitionally approved social work education and training programmes. These two-day visits are essential to our approvals process. They ensure that programmes meet our standards of education and training and that anyone successfully completing these programmes meets the standards of proficiency for the profession.

Many programmes will also be seeking endorsement from The College of Social Work  (TCSW). This involves a one-day visit from TCSW reviewers.

In order to decrease the burden on education providers and assist them in their planning, we have come together with TCSW to create a suggested agenda for a joint visit. The agenda sets out one way in which programmes may organise a joint visit event to meet the needs of both organisations.

We have written to all social work education providers with information about the approvals process and visits. Please contact the education department on or +44(0) 20 7840 9812 for further information.
