Oracle extends Government Procurement Services agreement to include NHS

On 20th November 2012, Oracle confirmed the extension of their agreement with the Government Procurement Service (GPS) to include NHS organisations. The current NHS Enterprise Wide Agreement with Oracle comes to an end in June 2014. The extended GPS agreement provides a mechanism for NHS organisations to plan and budget for their Oracle licensing requirements beyond June 2014. (Published: 30 November 2012)

The current NHS Enterprise Wide agreement with Oracle provides an unlimited NHS wide licence for certain Oracle products. These licences are funded centrally until the current agreement with Oracle comes to an end in June 2014.

As a result of the NHS Enterprise Wide agreement coming to an end in June 2014, and the Oracle GPS agreement being extended, NHS organisations are advised to:

  • Review their use of all Oracle products, working with local systems suppliers to identify which Oracle products are incorporated and used within their systems.
  • Seek specialist independent advice to help understand and optimise their Oracle licence usage and requirements, to ensure they only pay for licenses and products in use.
  • Consult with Oracle to understand the detail of their commercial offer, and gain the relevant quotations to allow appropriate budgeting beyond June 2014.

In addition to being able to access the benefits of the GPS agreement with Oracle for licensing costs beyond June 2014, Oracle is also offering additional discounts to NHS organisations who confirm their licensing requirements beyond June 2014, by 30th April 2013.
